REFEREE INFORMATION
1) Changes to the Laws** EMSA has made some changes to the fouls and misconducts section of the mini rules for 8 v 8 soccer. Referees are allowed to use yellow and red cards to discipline players. Please use the cards cautiously and sparingly verbal correction and warnings should be your first option in most discipline cases. Players can still be substituted out of a game as another option.
2) Getting Games As a new referee it is sometimes difficult to get started. Here are some tips and hints that can help you as you start your new venture. The first point of contact for you should be your SGSA Referee Director, contact information can be found within this section of our website. If you are looking for games outside of SGSA you can contact the necessary people by looking on each zones website.
3) Getting Paid (Indoor Season). EMSA games are paid by EMSA. These games are all Saints games from U10 to U18 inclusive and Community Under 10 girls (not boys) and all Under 12 through Under 18 games. To get paid for these make sure that you keep a copy of the game sheet (usually the last one in the book. Before the first Friday of every month go to www.edmontonsoccer.com (referee section) and print off the payment form. Complete this form and send it to EMSA with your game sheet copies attached. You will normally be paid around the second Friday of each month. Under 10 boys are SGSA games and you will be paid by SGSA. No need to do anything, your referee director will request payment for you. If you have not given your address to the director, please do so. The cheques will then be mailed to you. 4) Getting Paid (Outdoor Season) Payment for ALL games played in Spruce Grove will be made by the Spruce Grove Soccer Association, twice a month. As an official you do not need to do anything to get paid. The Referee Director for SGSA will submit the payment requests to the Soccer office. It is suggested that you keep a record of all the games that you officiate to check for correct payment. When the cheques are ready they will either be mailed or you will be contacted to let you know how to get your payment.
